Dear and esteemed friend,

I hope that you and your dear family are doing well and are in good health.

Pesach is quickly approaching, and we are commanded to begin preparing for the needs of the holiday thirty days in advance, ensuring that those in need have what they require.

Toronto has always been one of the most expensive cities in the world. However, since COVID, mortgage interest rates and the cost of basic, essential food products have risen dramatically. Even middle-class families now struggle to make ends meet.

If earning a livelihood is a miracle all year round, it becomes even more challenging during the holiday season—especially for large families and dedicated educators—when expenses skyrocket.

For the past five years, we have organized distributions of chicken, meat, fruits, vegetables, wine, matzah, and other essential items during Pesach and Tishrei for educators and large families. In reality, our doors are open to anyone in need.

Each Yom Tov, we provide for 600 families in the Greater Toronto Area, and the number is only growing with each holiday.

Each distribution costs $300,000.

Our primary focus is to provide assistance with dignity, a warm smile, and an open heart.

I turn to you, dear and esteemed friend, to become an active partner in this sacred mission by contributing to this vital project, helping families, educators, and their precious children.

Every child deserves a joyful holiday, and every parent deserves to celebrate without financial worry.

The Midrash Tanchuma (Parashat Mishpatim) emphasizes the value of charity and kindness toward the poor. According to the Midrash, G-d promises that if someone saves the life of a poor person by giving them food and supporting them, He will repay them "nefesh tachas nefesh" - "a life for a life." God will remember the good deed done for the poor person and will, in turn, save the benefactor in their time of need.

This idea reflects our belief in divine reward and personal providence: good deeds are never forgotten, and G-d repays a person according to their actions. The message is that helping the needy is not only a moral duty but also a source of blessing and protection.
