The Lifesaving Society pursued its mission to prevent drowning and water-related injury through its training programs, Water Smart public education campaign and aquatic safety management services, lifesaving sport and Swim to Survive. -The Society certified over 750,000 Canadians in Lifesaving, Lifeguarding, First Aid and Leadership training programs annually. -The Society conducted drowning research and published Drowning Reports -The Society delivered Water Smart public education messages through media, print and electronic communication and community events -The Society's innovative and internationally recognized Swim to Survive, survival training program reached 87,000 Ontario children in the year -The Society established aquatic safety standards, consulted on aquatic safety issues, provided expertise on legal cases involving aquatic issues -The Society's National Lifeguard (NLS) is recognized as the sole standard for lifeguards in Ontario.
