The Steveston Historical Society celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2016 with a special Gala Night, which also served to commemorate the connection of Steveston's First Nations roots to the area. The Town Square Park adjiacent to the Steveston museum was completed and opened. The Fisherman's Park Mural was completed in collaboration with the Richmond Arts Coalition, Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, and Steveston Harbour Authority; this mural p ortays a visual story of the fishing industry from First Nations up until current day. In partnership with Steveston Museum, work is currently underway to present Walking Tour Vignettes- a five part play along a walking tour of Steveston performed by student actors from Hugh McRoberts Secondary School. These tours will be launched in time for Canada's 150th Anniversary.
