We operate a volunteer fish hatchery returning about 80,000 Coho Salmon Fry into the local streams each year. We have 39 school classrooms participating with aquariums in their classrooms hatching eggs and rearing the fish until they are able to be released. The classrooms also attend the hatchery and remove the eggs from the spawning fish, fertilize them and place them into trays for hatching. The classrooms release their fish into their local streams. We also have a group of people who access the streams weekly counting the returning adult salmon. Our group puts in over 1000 hours of volunteer time each year. No one receives any remuneration.
