Artengine Inc. (the Organization) was incorporated on May 3, 1996 under the laws of the Canada Corporations Act, and commenced operations on the incorporation date. For Canadian income tax purposes, Artengine Inc. has qualified as a not-for-profit organization since May 26, 2005 and is exempt from tax under the Income Tax Act. The Organization is a registered charity. Artengine Inc. is a non-profit artist-run centre that fosters democratic and innovative approaches to electronic art and its evolving relationship to society. Its objectives are: The creation, presentation/dissemination and promotion of art concerned with technological experimentation, both on-line and in physical space; Ensuring that artists have affordable access to specific technological resources needed for their work. This would include both physical and information-based resources. Relevant artistic endeavours include computer programming, custom electronics, network adaptation and many other practices in which production or presentation technology plays a distinct role in shaping the network;
