Services Provided by Heartwood Centre For Community Youth Development
An Abilities Now Youth Summit was held in part with Partnership for Access Awareness Nova Scotia to provide young Nova Scotians living with various disabilities the opportunity to voice experiences, develop leadership skills and build networks, including with government. The youth-led Youth Voices Project supported youth and youth outreach workers through a creative evaluation process which included collecting feedback which was analyzed by Canadian Health Research Foundation to help shape future program development and shared with the Youth Outreach Program for use as promotional material. A Boys & Young Men Colloquium brought together services providers who work with boys and young male youth and youth participants to address various issues and provide an opportunity to engage with each other. In collaboration with Dept of Community Services Lunenburg a project was designed to provide employability skills development and confidence for youth participants through employability and career development by designing and developing training tools for those in care transitioning out of care. Workshops were held in 8 locations throughout Nova Scotia to aid youth in securing economic support from funding by the Sexual Violence Strategy of Nova Scotia for Innovative Prevention Projects.
