Due to the ongoing revenue shortage and climbing costs, the board made the difficult decision in January 2016 to close Elim Homes and sell the property. Residents and donors were notified that home would close by May 2016. By the end of the May 2016, all residents had been placed in other retirement homes or nursing homes,operations staff had accepted and been paid termination packages, and the home had closed. Elim Homes expects to complete the dissolution of its corporate charter in 2017 and any remaining funds will be donated to another registered charity.
