We produced the annual Vancouver International Dance Festival (VIDF). The festival is a balance of local, national and international dance presentations combined with workshops in dance and audience development. The festival provides a context that allows evaluation of work, appreciation for the standard of creations and networking to enhance touring opportunities for both local and vising companies. The 2016 festival featured 12 dance companies representing Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Japan, Cuba and Sweden. The audience saw dance performances of First Nations and Metis Dance, South East Asian Bharatanatyam, Japanese Butoh, along with Hop Hop and other forms of Contemporary Dance. In addition to the performances, 4 master class workshops were held during the festival and daily life drawing sessions were held on site along with an exhibition of dance based art, sculpture and photography.
