Services Provided by Waseskun
WASESKUN provides a residential program for Aboriginal and Inuit men who are sent from a prison, a probation setting or from a Community wishing an alternative to incarceration. The philosophy and treatment given at Waseskun is based upon traditional values and seeks to find a balance between the needs for rehabilitation-treatment of the underlying cause of the individual's deviant behavior. Waseskun accepts only Native and Inuit clients. Staff and the Board members are 90% native. Waseskun is a fully accredited drug and alcohol treatment facility with contracts for services with the Solicitor General of Canada, The Quebec Department of Public Security, along with several Native Band Councils. Waseskun is entrusted with the Direct Supervision of our residents and has a contract to do Community Assessments in the surrounding Mohawk Communities. Waseskun programs generally are for a period of 6-12 months depending on the needs of the individual client.
