The ongoing program of Help for Missions Society is to assist the work of Catholic missionaries in the Third World by sending clothing, shoes, blankets, food, soap, school supplies, etc., for distribution to needy people overseas. These items are either collected locally in the Greater Vancouver area and sent overseas, or purchased in Canada or overseas by agents, for distribution by Catholic missionaries to the poor in their missions in Third World countries. Goods to be sent from Canada are usually transported by truck to the Toronto-based charity Canadian Food for Children which then ships them by container to Third World countries. Canadian Food for Children also assists the Society in purchasing food in the Toronto area to be included in its shipments to the Third World.
