The purpose of GBS/CIDP Foundation of Canada is to provide support, education, and research concerning Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), and variants, throughout Canada. Our ongoing programs are intended to: a) assist patients and their families to cope with the illness by providing emotional support and other resources to them. b) make personal visits by former patients to those currently in hospitals and rehabilitation, to offer moral support. c) provide information and literature about GBS, CIDP and variants, so patients and their families know what to expect during illness. d) create awareness and help educate the public and medical community about GBS, CIDP and our charity. e) encourage and foster medical research into the cause, treatment and other apsects of GBS, CIDP, and variants. f) direct patients, with residual and long-term disabilities from the conditions, to resources for vocational, financial, emotional, and other assistance and programs that might be available.
