Calgary Seniors' Resource is governed by a Board of Directors and carries out its objectives with a staff of 18 and a large complement of volunteers. In addition to Outreach Services, which consists of home assessments, long and short term support and case management, and assistance with financial, housing and daily living needs by registered social workers, volunteer services and programming is provided. These programs include: Friendly Visiting; Telephone Reassurance; Assisted Shopping; Escorted Transportation to medical appointments; Pet Assist; and Caregiver Connect. In addition, our Adopt a Grandparent group of programs include Christmas Cheer Up, Spring Clean Up and Fall Fix Up. and utilize volunteers and trained professionals to assist seniors on maintaining their homes and keeping them safe. SeniorConnect is a community educational and engagement program. It not only educates groups and individuals on seniors' vulnerability and risk factors including elder abuse but, in partnership with Distress Centre Calgary, provides a Seniors' Help Line that runs 24/7 with follow-up by SeniorConnect social workers who assess the seniors' situations and needs, and connects them to resources and support.
