The Students Commission of Canada's mandate is to assist youth to prevent, address and overcome economic, social and academic issues faced by youth in order to eliminate youth poverty, advance youth education and health, and raise public awareness of youth issues in Canada and abroad. It conducts numerous educational services, workshops and conferences to teach societai,employment and leadership skills, to encourage youth volunteerism, and provide counselling in the areas of substance abuse, violence prevention and rehabilitation. It develops education and resource materials, conducts research and communicates the results to other organizations, groups, academics and policy makers, encouraging the meaningful participation of youth in their communities.
