Services Provided by Ontario Library Service
1. Funded through the $15 million investment: 1a. Develop the training and information portal (Learn HQ) to provide a single access point to discover training opportunities and professional resources offered by SOLS and its partner organizations, facilitate registration to training, and in future, allow users to track their trainings and progresses via a personalized Learning Path. 1b. Create six sample competencies profiles to aid libraries in understanding and implementation of competencies. Competencies are the skills, abilities and knowledge necessary for successful individual job performance and achievement of organizational outcomes. 1c. Provide education fund to library staff member to complete a degree, diploma, or certificate in library and information studies. 1d. Organize through a partnership between SOLS, OLS-North, OLS, FOPC and CULC an event (Libraries 2025 Symposium) to discuss the future of public libraries in Ontario. 1e. Create a tagline to promote the value and impact of Ontario's libraries. 2. Distribute approximately 27,500 books from 2014 to 2016 school year to students in 36 First Nations communities.
