FESA has four core program areas:1) conduct extensive research and develop curricula specifically focusing on the needs of multi-barriered learners;2) operate the Calgary Community Family Literacy Program which has four program models: Literacy and Parenting Skills (LAPS), Parent/Child Mother Goose, Books for Babies/Jump Start and Homespon. Over 70 programs are delivered to 800 familes per yr3) work in partnership with community agencies, literacy coalitions, school boards, cultural groups, etc. to develop relevant curricula and to join in efforts to bring a voice to the concerns and needs of low literate families across Canada.4) developed extensive training and certification process for facilitators and trainers of our LAPS program and continue to present trainings/workshops/presentations to community agencies on topics of literacy awareness, plain language, partnerships.
