Hornby Island Blues Society operates a yearly instructional camp for student musicians. It provides opportunities and scholarships for students from across Canada to educate themselves in the traditions and histories of blues and roots music through the instruction of professional musicians. In addition to its main music camp, it conducts workshops for for students in schools and engages its community through concerts. It conducts a week-long music gala and facilitates cultural programs including an annual art show. Hornby Island Blues Society supports its home community organizations both financially and culturally by generating income opportunities for its rural island and encouraging active tourism in association with its activities.
