Communities Embracing Restorative Action (Cera) Society is a Community Resources Charity located in Coquitlam, BC.

Services Provided by Communities Embracing Restorative Action (Cera) Society
Community Youth Justice Program (CYJP): operating in Metro Vancouver CYJP offers an alternative to the traditional court system to youth facing protential charges for criminal offences. The program accepts referrals mainly from local police services and Crown. Using the principles of restorative justice, trained facilitators meet with the youth accused, their victims and support persons for both parties. Preliminary meetings are usually followed by a reconciliation conference to explore and mend the harm that has occurred. A restitution agreement is made by both parties that is fulfilled by the youth who is then able to proceed without a criminal record. Empowering Youth Program (EY): operating since September 2005 in partnership with School District 43, EY trains and supports student peer mediators at all levels of the school system - secondary, middle and elementary in restorative action principles and conflict resolution skills.
