CLS compled its work under the Consumer Protection Education for Rural Ontaario project funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario just before the close of the 2015-16 fiscal year. This project developed a variety of consumer protection materials, offered live workshop training, newspapers columns for publication, and other forms of consumer protection education province-wide, specifically focusiing on rural areas. CLS also completed the LFO-funded update of its Certificate Program at the same time. CLS continues to work with Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) to produce consumer brochures on consumer protection topics, revitalizing and resurrecting CLEO's consumer protection offerings which had been outdated and withdrawn from circulation for several years. CLS is also working with CLEO to review and offer suggestions regarding CLEO's new Steps to Justice program, which uses a question-and-answer format to provide public legal information; CLS is assisting with review of consumer protection-related content. CLS is also seeking funding for the development of a certificate program that would focus on social justice advocacy at the systemic level.
