Purpose-To establish a support system for family violence (to individuals and shelters) whereby the objective is to promote public awareness of and work to eliminate family violence and to conduct research and disseminate information repecting family violence (all primarily in Canada's Aboriginal communities) Activities in Support of Purposes: -Develop materials that are culturally specific that benefit women and children in family violence situations. -Provide networking,education and awareness of "best practices," therapeutic models and rehabilitative programs and services to eligible clients that are culturally relevant. -Encourage the development of self-help groups for cultural peer support which aboriginal women wishing to heal from violence -Activities will be taking place through our office in Ottawa (location of primay activities),with training programs to take place in Aboriginal communities,i.e. First Nations reserves
