Distribute new and gently used clothing to children in Inner City Elementary Schools, and some High Schools; Distribute books to children in Inner City Elementary schools to promote the value of literacy and the joy of owninga book for children at risk;Collect gently used books for distribution to children in emergency shelters so that they have a special book for themselves in these traumatic situations; Provide a book for children in foster care which moves with them from one foster family to another; Provide books in the home language for immigrant families to encourage immigrant parents to read books with their children; Financially support the Vancouver Jewish Book Fair annually; Provide educational discussion groups and book clubs forNCJW Vancouver Section members; Support Jewish day schools' literacy programs. Encourage these schools to collect gently used books for some of NCJW'sprograms; Support Richmond Jewish Day School's hot lunch program for low income children to prevent their being denied the lunches that their peers can afford to pay for; Ongoing work to educate the Jewish community on Jewish values with respect to organ transplant donations together with the BC Transplant Society; Support organisations dealing with children at risk , such as Children of the Street;Receive and evaluate submissions from other local community organisations and financially support certain projects such as YWCA's Crabtree Corner which works to help marginalised families in the ...
