The Literacy Endowment Fund administered by the Literacy Foundation was dissolved in July 2016. The Foundation refunded $1,186.570.44 to both the Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador which was their initial investment in the Literacy Endowment Fund plus interest. The Foundation does not currently have another funding source for the provision of grants to non-profit organizations whose aim it is to increase and promote literacy in the province.
