Salt Spring Film Festival Society is a
Arts Charity located in Salt Spring Island, BC.
Services Provided by Salt Spring Film Festival Society
The Society continued its Monthly Film Series, a fund-raising and awareness building effort, presenting 5 films at the local ArtSpring facility to over 900 patrons. An additional screening of a locally produced BC film was presented in April to approximately 100 patrons. The Society presented its 17th Annual 3-day documentary Film Festival (March 4-6, 2016) at which 46 films were screened. Of these, 7 films were B.C. productions. This event attracted a total audience of about 800 persons, and there were 1245 seats occupied in total for all the screenings. As in other years, there were 11 film-makers in attendance, 8 of whom are B.C. based, to present their films and engage the audience in Q&A sessions afterwards. The Festival again hosted a free "Social Justice Bazaar" which attracted more than 20 local community non-profit organizations. The Festival was once again a wonderful success, and this was attributable to the tireless efforts of the Society's Board of Directors, contracted staff, and more than 100 volunteers who worked at the Festival event and in many cases throughout the year during the planning and organizational stages.
