Light up Papua New Guinea works to improve the quality/function of health care facilities by installing solar-powered LED lighting systems in Papua New Guinea. This diverse country consists of 700+ cultural groups, of whom >80% live in rural areas and 40% live in poverty. Since July 2008, Light Up Papua New Guinea has installed solar light systems in >230 rural health facilities & birthing centres, positively impacting over 600,000 people. The Captain Nichola K.S Goddard Bursary at the U.P.E.I. is awarded t oa student in any faculty who is engaged in a project which focuses on issues relevant to indigenous peoples, whether in Canada or internationally. The Captain Nichola K.S. Goddard Scholarship in Graduate Studies at the U. of Calgary is awarded to a student from one of the three communities that most touched Nichola's life: citizens of Papua New Guinea; people of First Nations, Inuit or M?tis descent; or citizens of Afghanistan.
