GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour) is a form of sarcoma. This is the least known of the major forms of cancer. GIST can occur anywhere along the GI tract and commonly affects the stomach. The mission of GIST Sarcoma Life Raft Group Canada is to ensure the surivial of GIST patients and assist patients adn caregivers in maximizing the quality of their lives. The following ongoing charitable programs 1) Provide advice, assistance and support to patients with GIST as well as their caregivers and family members. 2) Offer suppoer groups for those in Canada who are affected by GIST. 3) Educate health care professionals on the medical diagnosis and treatment of GIST. 4) Increase public awareness of GIST for the purpose of its prevention adn proper treatment. 5) Provide workshops and seminars related to GIST and its treatment. 6) Supporting GIST research in Canada
