2016 was a transition year for SFA - we officially wrapped up our last feeding program in favour of sustainable projects in Kenya. All three projects that replaced the feeding programs, are up and running goats and four male goats in the program. The Shitochi Community are benefiting from the sale of goat milk and will ultimately reap the financial reward of selling the goats for meat. The second project, a chain saw and firewood project is now also self-sufficient and has provided income for food for the Shamberere Community. This year we will officially open a Posho Mill with the Chevoso Community that was constructed and implemented towards the end of 2016. Supporting these communities while they got their projects up and running was an invaluable activity. This has freed up the funds necessary to augment our Education Programs. Our sponsorship program will see our first graduates from High School in 2017. We have sponsored these students through their primary and high school year - very exciting. Education will be our main focus from now on. 2016 also saw the completion of our container that was sent to Kenya in 2015. It finally arrived at its destination and along with friends within the medical community we were instrumental in getting all of the donated items to the intended recipients.
