Development and maintenance of the Peer Support Standard of Practice for Canada. Supporting, promoting and advancing the growth, recognition and accessibility of peer support though the certification of peer supporters. PSACC certifies peer supporter by assessing their knowledge, skills and abilities against the Peer Support Standards of Practice for Canada. Encouraging knowledge transfer recovery-based peer support programs in Canada - through our annual conference, public speaking opportunities, and by working directly with peer support programs. Raising public awareness about mental illness including their incidence, causes, treatment, and recovery. Evaluation and Research - The purpose of our evaluation is to assess the of effectiveness of peer support on individuals and organizations. PSACC is currently collecting evaluation data from 3 organizations who are implementing peer support programs. Our research program is targeted to enhance knowledge and strategies for designing and implementing peer support programs and to improve the overall function of peer support throughout Canada.
