We participated in the annual Christmas bird count, in association with the Cortes Island Museum, Bird Studies Canada, & Audubon USA (Jan 3, 2016), with 5 youth and 4 adults participants & 20 bird species recorded. We offered a youth naturalist/interpretive training for 18 youth & 5 adults. We operated the 1st official 24-hour Bioblitz (an animal & plant species inventory) of James Creek/Carrington Bay forest lands with 9 presenters, and 35 youth and 35 adult participants, learning species identification & wilderness skills. They youth developed leadership & culinary arts skills through a community dinner they organized and prepared. We offered 2 public evening presentations on bats by MOE Provincial Small Mammals Specialist & Herpetologist (April 15/July 15). We had 69 youth, 170 youth/adult participants, and 31 volunteer helpers participating in our ongoing programs with an accumulation of 526 volunteer hours.
