Services Provided by Canadian Nurses For Africa
Provide free medical relief to the people in the rural villages of the Kakamega- Vihiga counties located in the Western Provinces of Kenya. Volunteers travel to and conduct medical field missions on an annual basis. Qualified registered nurses from Canada, along with other medical personnel and support staff, establish and staff medical clinics to provide free medical care and medications for the sick. In addition to direct medical services, the volunteers undertake local health initiatives. These activities include treatment for "jiggers", sexual health clinics, as well as the providing of washable sanitary pads for girls to permit them to attend school while menstruating.
