The AnglicAN Townsite Cemetery was opened in 1927. The greater number of family plots, 12 feet wide by 8 feet long,(424)were pre-sold, possibly to provide funds to clear the land, erect fencing and draft a proper plot plan. Aa family members were buried, each family erected framing around their plot, most concrete, some others low metal fence, and a few others, wooden. During the earlier years family members, with very few exceptions, maintained and adorned the family plot. After a few decades, with family members greatly declined from death and moving away from the city, maintenance of the family plot eroded, shrubs and weeds flourished, and the dignity of the area disappeared. With all the plot framing, curtting and trimming the grass, shrubs and weeds, became an arduous task. In 1960 a new interdenominational cemetery was opened on the outskirts of the expanding City of Corner Brook, supplemented by one Anglican Parish being divided into three Anglican Parishes, created a desperate need for Church action. In 2005 the three Anglican Parishes appointed a committee of seven. In order to reduce the long term maintenance cost, a long term plan was approved to turn the area into a Lawn Type Cemetery necessitating the removal of all plot frames and proper manage the area annually,requiring also to fill sunken graves, levelling, adding topsoil, and seeding or laying sods on the whole area.
