We added "building infrastructure that improves access to education, temporary shelter, gainful employment and basic health care" as one of the objectives of NHCF with the approval from CRA. Following which, NHCF started exploring possible support programs in Nepal from the donations raised for earthquake victims. However, due to lack of guidelines from the government of Nepal about the process for the involvement of non-Nepali NGO/Charity in the reconstruction process, we were unable to initiate any project. Few months ago, Nepal government created National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), which in turn has issued guidelines. Consequently, we are in the process of finalizing support projects. In fact, just recently (after June 30, 2016), we disbursed net $15,000 through London Cross Cultural Centre (CRA registered charity) for rebuilding a school in Gorkha district. This project is supported by a consortium of Canadian societies including NHCF. NHCF also raised funds and chaneled through (Canadian Red Cross) to assist the victims of wildfire in Alberta this past summer.
