This was a busy year for the PEISSHS Inc as we celebrated 50 years as a group. At our celebrations in June we launched our book "Glenaladale Settlers 1772 - Scotland to St John's Island (PEI)". Because our year was busy we hired a summer student to help with our PR and marketing of our events. In October we were pleased to host the "Scottish Diaspora Tapestry" which our group had spearheaded the PEI Scots doing five panels in 2013. The display at the Confederation Centre of the Arts was a great success and well received by the public. Our official opening included representatives from the Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels of Government, as well as The Lieutenant Governor and his wife, and about 40 of the 43 stitchers. In October we also hosted a group of Clan Donald from Scotland, Australia and USA. We had a ceilidh and they toured the area including Glenaladale Estate. The Scotchfort Cemetery & Monument and St.Andrews Chapel. This coming year we hope to have a date from Parks Canada for the Official celebration and installation of the Carin to Commemorate the designation of Capt John MacDonald as a person of Historical Significance.
