To advance education in the youth in the community - to deliver youth-centered experiential education programming surrounding gardening, agricultural entrepreneurship skills and health lifestyles; using a community garden as the classroom and laboratory. Brief description of the Program Integrated education program for children and youth in a natural ecosystem within inner city to learn about and participate in growing vegetables and fruits, plant science, and nutrition. Curriculum modules includes: community garden designs and food systems; plant and soil science; choosing food crops and seedlings; optimizing yields; wild edibles; composting systems; organic pest control; food production and cooking essentials for healthy snack and meal ideas; community capacity building through each one teach one from seedlings to harvest; Training Sessions As part of the Garden Program, Hope Blooms provides free training sessions for Junior leaders and families on organic and sustainable farming practices and food production. Activity: Culinary Apprenticeships Culinary skill development for coordinators; junior leaders and youth team. They receive hands on training in kitchen terminology, commercial kitchen instruction, food safety methodologies on preparing foods and recipe/menu planning. Education sessions are held with a registered dietitian.
