Each year the charity operates a competitive music festival in February and a competitive dance festival in April or May. The music festival attracts non-professional musicians who can choose to enter one or more of approximately fifty categories of classes. In the dance festival there are about one hundred and forty categories to choose from. The two festivals between them attract some 3,000 entries involving over 30,000 participants.
