A collaborative initiative between LNG Canada, the BC Construction Associaton, and the Foundation established the LNG Trades Training Fund-providing $1 million for construction apprenticeship tuition grants. The Foundation has undertaken a provincial government Labour Market Partnership agreement to develop and pilot the Construction Ready program in secondary schools in the Vancouver Island Construction Association and Southern Interior Construction Association regions. Construction Ready is an initiative that identifies and promotes the essential soft skills required for sucess within the construction industry. It provides tools for young people to prove they are work ready, while enabling them to build a real world understanding of what working in construction can do. The Foundation supported a research paper/feasibility study for a BC Construction Inovation Centre. This study is intended to demonstrate the rationale and viability of establishing and innovation Centre as a catalyst for advancing construction innovation. When complete, this report will be posted on our website for public avaiglability.
