This charity is an association of 8 regional societies operating in 15 communities throughout BC. The organization's objectives are preventing crime and a belief that justice is best served through programs which encourage positive behaviour and reintegration of offenders back into society. Developing alternatives to imprisonment, suggesting reforms within the criminal justice system, implementing a range of public programs to encourage responsibilities in the justice system, working to provide direct cost effective programs to prisoners, parolees, probationers and their families through support and encouragement. In addition we deliver youth custody advocacy services in partnership with the Province of BC, the goals of the program are to increase awareness in youth of their rights and responsibilities within the custody centre and community. The objective is to increase self-advocacy skills for youth in residence, for the staff in the facilities and to increase advocacy related activities on behalf of youth in custody.
