Province of Ontario Council for the Arts (Operating as Ontario Arts Council) is the Province of Ontario's primary funding body for professional arts activities. Since 1963, Ontario Arts Council has played a vital role in promoting and assisting the development of the arts and artists for the enjoyment and benefit of Ontarians. In 2015-16, Ontario Arts Council funded 1,125 arts organizations and 1,676 individual artists in 209 communities across Ontario for a toral of $50.5 million.
