This year, we awarded our first MDA Scholarship, which was $500 CAD. Applicants were asked to submit an application form, their musical biographies, videos of themselves playing two contrasting works, a statement of how the scholarship will be used should they receive it, a photo of themselves, and proof of Canadian citizenship or residency. The scholarship offered was to be used towards the payment of tuition for a music school or program. The adjudicator gave each applicant a mark out of 100 based on their musical ability, background, and a statement of how they plan to use the scholarship should they receive it. The applicant with the highest total mark was awarded the scholarship. The applicant was asked to submit a testimonial after the scholarship on how they used the scholarship.
