During the past year, the Grade 3 class from York River Public School toured the Gallery and participated in a workshop with "..." the artist of the month entitled "Becoming the Light: the Art of the Flower". Artist Talks with visiting artists are held at the Gallery and last year we held approximately ten workshops in such mediums as Painting Silk with French Dyes. Faux Encaustics Using Acrylics, Watercolours with "..." and a 3 weekend soapstone carving workshop with Algonquin Artist "...". We also held a very successful Wire Work Jewellery courses with "...". We participated once again in the community annual event Wheels, Water & Wings offering classes in rock painting for the youngsters in addition to t-shirt dying instruction. Local artist "..." having recently returned from the Arctic had a monthly Exhibit at the Gallery and led a tour and discussion with the local high school students on the status of the climate change in the Arctic.
