The foundation was newly incorporated on November 16, 2015 and began collecting donations up to its fiscal year ended June 30, 2016. The Foundation's intention is to have alumni of the 20 under 40 award, which is a recognition in the London business community of those under the age of 40who are making their mark, professionally as well as through community stewardship provide donation that would be awarded to a charity selected by the alumni. TheFoundation was set up to allow the alumni an opportunity to donate funds to the Foundation with the use of those funds to be used to donate funds to aregistered charity selected within the London and Area who was voted on by the alumni of the 20 under 40 award. In the first fiscal period, while somefunds were collected from alumni, the charity receipient was not selected (or awarded) until the June 30, 2017 fiscal year. Going forward, the donation to the selected charity will be made in December/January of the fiscal year. The donations collected are intended to cover the nominal operating costs of the Foundation, with the remainder being available to donate to charitable organization selected by the alumni group. As the alumni grows, it is expected that the charitable receipients will grow.
