As a new charity, the 2016 fiscal year was used to build up the foundation of the charity (website, etc.) and begin fundraising. Since the majority of fundraising was done late in the year, rather than rush to carry out our charitable activities by the end of the year, we wanted to ensure that we could use the funds we raised to make a meaningful impact in 2017.
