In 2016, Sitka Foundation undertook two new programs ancillary and incidental to its charitable purposes. The first was a conservation program with Agent Panthera Corporation, which is a leading big cat conservation organization, to protect the habitat of jaguars in a corridor extending from Mexico to Patagonia. This initiative intends to preserve their genetic integrity and continued existence of jaguars in the wild. The second was a program to carry out engineering education at the post-secondary level in Peru by supporting the salaries of 16 faculty members to enable teaching for a one year period beginning July 1, 2016. This program was carried out under an agency agreement with Universidad de Ingenieria y Tecnologia.
