Over the past year we have been developing a plan to expand the museum. This started with a generous cash donation of $100000 from a local resident. We have been working with an architect to create space that allows us to engage the community more effectively. The current museum space has filled to capacity since we moved into the building in 1983. The new space is more about inviting the community in, figuratively and literally. We badly need programming space and a reception area. Right now, school groups must gather outside of the building as there is not enough space within. The expansion will also add accessibility that does not exist now. We anticipate that this project will take place over a three year period.
