Until December 31, 2016, the PEC Jazz Festival was a part of the Prince Edward County Arts Council, another registered charity. Beginning in January 2017, the Prince Edward County Jazz Festival began operations as its own incorporated, non-profit registered charity and the cash associated with the Festival was transferred to our new bank account from the Arts Council. Our programs include: 1. Student Education Weekend: TD Canada Trust sponsorship makes possible a three day jazz education program each spring for four high school jazz ensembles from Ontario. This unique program provides an opportunity for young musicians to work with some of Canada's finest jazz educators and performers. We will presents a concert at the historic Regent Theatre, featuring the Brian Barlow Big Band along with the four participating school ensembles, and a special guest vocalist. 2. Rising Young Star Program: The Prince Edward County Jazz Festival offers a unique opportunity each year for one talented jazz student to become our Rising Young Star.
