Services Provided by Community Therapy Dogs Society
1) School and library centered programs which provide the opportunity for children to gain confidence in reading out loud by reading to a pre-assessed therapy dog. The programs allow the children to de-stress and refocus on learning by being with a non-judgemental listener (the dog). 2) Seniors' residential visitation program where our handlers take their therapy dogs to visit seniors, thereby enhancing the quality of the seniors' lives by allowing the senior to experience the unconditional love of the dogs. The benefit to seniors is both mental and physical, thereby adding to the quality of their lives. Programs are 100% volunteer run, with 2,465 hours given in volunteer time durinig 2016.
