In order to advance conservation education, Planta! trained 82 conservation practitioners on management and conservation techniques in 5 courses that we taught. 26 volunteers received training on species management in a training workshop, and we organize 3 meetings that brought 189 conservationists together to advance plant conservation. Among these meetings was the Third International Symposium on the family Magnoliaseae which gathered 76 delegates from 15 countries. Educational activities were also conducted with local communities reaching over 3000 people through 2 environmental festivals, 20 school talks and guided walks. In order to protect the environment, Planta! engaged in 11 practical conservation projects across Cuba that evaluated the conservation situation of populations of 24 plant species, monitored 19 threatened species, and contributed to the threat assessment of 4627 species.
