The foundation had remained inactive since formation pending the development of a long term charitable strategy with Teck Resources Limited. This company has been donating the full 1% of its annual pre-tax earnings and has not had additional money to put in all the Foundation. This is in large part due to the company's long-term commitments to the VGH UBC Hospital Foundation, B.C. Alpine Ski, Zinc Alliance for Child Health Canada, UNICEF and others to date.
