The purpose of the Guelph Black Heritage Society (GBHS) is to preserve the historical significance of the BME Church by creating a cultural, historical and social centre within Guelph and Wellington County. The GBHS also provides te community with the opportunity to learn about the community's Black heritage by staging presentations during Black History Month, Emancipation Day and throughout the year. These presentations may include talks/lectures from members of the community, displays of newspaper articles, posters and books, dramatic presentations and poetry readings. The GBHS is also a resource for the community by providing space for events, workshops and meeting space for clubs, etc. The GBHS provides members of the community with rental space for summer day camps and live events such as weddings, concerts, etc.
