ACC raises awareness about adoption and other forms of permanency,promotes the placement of waiting children and youth and stresses the importance of post-adoption support. Services also include adoption resources,referral,education and support for adoptees and birth and adoptive families. Ongoing programs:1)Canada's Waiting Children:national photolisting service of children and youth currently in care of child welfare agencies across Canada who are waiting for permanent adoptive families2)Best practices in recruitment:training for provincial child welfare authorities on how best to recruit families for children and youth in care with disabilities3)Urgency Around Permanency Summit:bringing together child welfare professionals and other stakeholders from across Canada to dismantle barriers to permanency for children and youth across the country4)Heart Gallery of Canada:travelling photographic exhibits in partnership with local agencies that make the public and potential adoptive parents aware of children and youth waiting in foster care5)Youth Speak Out:bringing youth who have been adopted,are still in care,or have aged out of provincial care together to "speak out" about the need for permanency and the impact of living in foster care or aging out of the system without a family6)AdoptWalk:annual family event in Ottawa that brings the adoption community together to help ACC make a difference in lives of Canadians touched by adoption.
