The AIDS Committee of Durham Region creates an inclusive environment for a collaborative approach to education, support and outreach, building on the strenghts and abilities of people living with HIV, AIDS and related co-infections, their support networks, and those at risk in Durham region. ACDR offers: counselling, support groups, financial assistance, advocacy, inter-agency support and peer mentoring, treatment access with both traditional and naturopathic practitioners and a food and vitamin bank. Education and outreach programs include: speaker's bureau, harm reduction, youth outreach, gay men's outreach, African/Caribbean outreach, women's outreach, rural communities outreach and hamper program, parties, bingo, bbqs and outings. This work undertaken by the staff at ACDR is hugely supported by a volunteer roster of approximately 180 individuals.
