Kitimat Marine Rescue Society (KMRS) was set up to provide financial. logistic & administrative support for Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (formerly Canadian Coast Guard Auxilliary), Station 63, Kitimat, in a manner similar to other RCM-SAR station support societies in Canada. It is directly tied to the programs of Kitimat Station 63, which are to provide 24/7 year round local area marina search & rescue service, assist in marine medical evacuations, assist in managing environmental problems, operate and maintain a search & rescue vessel and a fully equipped boathouse station, conduct restricted radio operators certification courses, train members in first aid, marine search & rescue, vessel operation, marine radio operation, provide safety coverage for marine events, make available free safe boating education & literature to the public, and free loaner PDFs for children.
